Enjoy folkloric Mexican dance group Colores Mexicanos (Mexicans in Bournemouth Community) performing their visually striking Day of the Dead dance dressed as Catrinas!

The Mexican Day of the Dead practice often comprises dance so this will be ac colourful and joyous way of celebrating and commemorating those who have passed away.

The Catrina is the joyous embodiment of death (the lady of the Dead's equivalent is the grim reaper in Western mythology). Catrina is inspired by the Aztec Goddess and presider of Death, Mictecacihuatl.

After the butterfly making, coffin painting and interactive Barbie doll and clickety-clack workshop and interactive activities, Colores Mexicanos will dance their death dance, and you can take part too!

After the dance, they will then lead, whilst dancing, the participants of the Monarch Butterfly workshop - holding their butterflies - to the Igloo Vision on Level 2 (Digital Humanities). The participants will have tied their butterflies to twigs to add to the flying effect.

This will be a kind of performative death dance which will conclude in the Igloo experience where all taking part can immerse themselves in the life sized giant digital igloo surrounded by the Amazonian jungle and animal sounds, and the workshops' digitized butterflies.
