This workshop fosters a new appreciation of children's philosophical talents through child-designed philosophy activities. The event has three parts, one for kids (especially ages 5-9, but all are welcome!), one for grownups, and one for both kids and grown-ups.
Part 1- In the kids-only part, student volunteers will guide children through three fun activities developed by kids and philosophers based at the University of Southampton: a story-based activity, a construction activity, and a drawing activity, each centred around a philosophical puzzle.
Part 2 - In the grownups-only part, a member of the University of Southampton philosophy staff will give a very short introduction to the event's themes followed by an open discussion of why young children do philosophy and what this reveals about the human mind.
Part 3 - Finally, children will join grownups to discuss what they discovered in their inquiries.
There will also be visual displays, an information table, and opportunities for discussion with staff and students after each session finishes.
Queue alert: This activity is very popular, please consider that there might be a queue to access the room where the event is taking place
